Clearly he pushes the edges of what is and what is not gospel. It is however, as it usually is, impossible to tell from these tunes if he is a true believer or not. Frankly, I bought this item after reading in Rolling Stone or some mag that Tonex has outed himself and there is concern that he may lose his following. I suspect that he will not because there is real talent here. I am frankly more concerned with the social issues involved, as when is the church going to come clean on the issue of gay; namely that it is really not religious business as long as responsibility is present.
I love every bit of its style, it has that hip hop, neo soul, pop feel like Tony Tone Toni albums but uplifting in God's words. This is a real feel good album, it's laid back with alot of uplifting message and it's actually Tonex's best album in my opinion. It is my FAVORITE Tonex album to date.God bless, K
Man there's not much i can say about this album except this is a classic, a debut album i'm never gonna forget as long as i'm livin' no lie, i'ma be bumpin this to church lol
ITS definitely worth every penny you spend. I have purchased every Tonex album following this. No man that i've heard sing can touch his octaves and rips and runs. To me, its Grammy worthy. Tonex's vocals are ridiculous.RIDICULOUS. Its separated by genre which is unique.
My favorite sections are his Futuristic with songs like "Trinity", Funk "Personal Jesus" all the songs in his Jazz section and the whole mellow grooves section. I first saw Tonex on a Gospel Awards show, his performance was like a Prince/Micheal Jackson thing. Its been about 10 years since I bought it and I still listen to it all the time I love it. Plus he can dance and he's a preacher. GOspel music was still tripping of Kirk Franklin so I knew they werent ready for Tonex. This album is one of the best Ive ever owned.
But I instantly fell in love with him as an artist was anxiously awaited the released of this album. This album is genius, and you can definitely hear his legendary influences in the album.
It is a pleasureable album to listen to. Good Job. This is an unbelieveable album. There is a song in there for everyone to listen to.
